6 rue Blaise-Desgoffe
The Victoria Palace is a privately owned hotel located on Paris’s Left Bank, in the quaint, residential Cherche-Midi neighborhood (6th arrondissement) approximately one half-mile from Saint Germain des Prés. The hotel is notable by the size of its rooms, over half of which have an area of 375 square feet or more. The hotel has been open since 1913, and although it has been entirely renovated to modern standards (internet, air-conditioning, sound-proofing, etc.) its style remains very true to a traditionally Parisian aesthetic with fabric-covered walls and a classically French décor. The hotel places particular emphasis on the authentic French experience it offers: clients are provided with self-guided itineraries of the neighborhood markets, artisans and chocolatiers as well as a guide to Left Bank shopping which focuses on small, independent boutiques rather than internationally renowned chain stores.

Whilst most tourists only get to see the culinary delights of a city through restaurants, the Victoria Palace Hotel would like to take its clients one step closer to the deeply French obsession with food and craftsmanship it involves. The 'Foodies Discovery Trail' is a self-guided tour of the neighborhood which will take the clients to the best bakery, the best cheese-monger, the most extraordinary chocolatier, two wine-merchants and Paris's best charcutier as well as a number of rotating farmers' markets. It is an opportunity for anyone to discover not only the unbelievable variety of foods (over 300 types of cheese, dozens of patés and sausages, etc.) that make up the bedrock of French cuisine, but also to meet the craftsmen and craftswomen who live and breathe the art of producing exquisite food every day. Includes names such as the Fromagerie Quatrehomme, Charcuterie Gilles Vérot, the armagnac producer Ryst-Dupeyron, the Boulangerie Poilane, etc. This little guide is given to every client upon arrival.
Is there any other place in the world in which one can find such a concentration of hand-crafted chocolates as in Paris's 6th arrondissement? Unlikely. The Victoria Palace Hotel takes upon itself the arduous and onerous burden of tasting and keeping up to date with every new chocolatier that opens in the neighbourhood in order to prepaer a map and shortlist of the 15 best ones. All the chocolatiers in our selection are of outstanding quality and may very well spoil once and for all our clients' perceptions of how good and how beautiful chocolate can actually be. (The choice of chocolatiers in the shortlist is made solely by the hotel ; there are no arrangements, monetary or otherwise, between the hotel and the chocolatiers to ensure their presence in the list.) The current list includes names such as Jean-Charles Rochoux, Alain Ducasse, Henri LeRoux, Jean-Paul Hévin, Patrick Roger, Foucher, etc. The shortlist and map is given to every client upon check-in.
Paris may be famous for glamorous brands, and indeed Paris has them all, either on the Avenue Montaigne, the Faubourg Saint-Honoré or the Left Bank around Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Rue de Grenelle. But whereas most of those shops can also be found in Dallas, New York or Shanghai, the Left Bank also offers a wealth of creative and stylish boutiques that one would struggle to find anywhere else. Every year the Victoria Palace Hotel puts together a guide focusing primarily on a selection of small boutiques and unknown designers, listing everything from handbags to door-handles. It runs to 92 suggestions on eight pages with maps and short descriptions. Every client receives the shopping guide upon check-in.
(The selection of shops is made solely by the Victoria Palace Hotel; there are no monetary or other arrangements in exchange for a shop's listing in the guide.)
